When Tampa attorney and entrepreneur Edward Reyes found himself navigating a medical emergency with his father, he encountered a problem most families face but few talk about: in moments of crisis, essential health and legal information is scattered across systems, paper files, and emails.
That experience inspired Reyes, a self-made founder who opened his first medical office at 21 and later built a successful law practice, to create Med Legal Safe Keep, a platform that helps families securely manage and access their most important health, legal, and financial documents.
“I realized that when something happens to a loved one, finding the right information shouldn’t be the hardest part,” Reyes said. “We built this to give people peace of mind and make sure families never have to scramble again.”
Backed by The Reyes Firm, the platform combines encrypted document storage, health tracking, and emergency access features within a single intuitive dashboard. Users can upload everything from medical directives to insurance forms and estate planning documents, then share controlled access through a simple QR code system. The design is geared toward ease of use, especially for older adults or those with limited digital literacy, while maintaining enterprise-level security.
The innovation comes at a time when data fragmentation is one of the biggest obstacles to efficient care and legal compliance. By bridging healthcare, law, and financial planning, Med Legal Safe Keep positions itself at the intersection of legal tech and digital health, two rapidly expanding industries in Florida’s startup ecosystem.
Reyes’ path to entrepreneurship began far from the tech world. Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, to Cuban immigrant parents, he became a father at 17 and built his first medical business before turning 25. Over the next decade, he expanded into law and community advocacy, becoming known for his integrity-driven leadership through The Reyes Firm and his philanthropic initiative, #ReyesGivesBack, which supports families in need across Tampa Bay.
Now, with Med Legal Safe Keep, Reyes is channeling his experiences into scalable impact. The company’s AI integration helps users anticipate needs such as document renewals or health record updates and guides them through best practices for emergency preparedness.
“Our vision is to make managing life’s most critical information simple, secure, and stress-free,” Reyes said.
As the platform grows, Reyes hopes to see Med Legal Safe Keep adopted by healthcare providers, law firms, and insurance companies as a modern digital solution for client and patient management. It’s a natural fit for Florida’s innovation economy, blending legal expertise, community purpose, and smart technology into something every family can use.
