Moxie Scrubs Launches First-Ever National “Thank a Nurse Day” Initiative at Jackson Health System

Nurses hold together some of the most stressful, emotionally demanding corners of the healthcare system, yet the work they do often goes unrecognized. Last week, Miami became the launchpad for a nationwide movement aiming to change that.

Moxie Scrubs, the first direct-to-consumer lifestyle brand for nurses by nurses, backed by partners Lovepop, CeraVe, Nurse.org, and Skyscape, hosted the inaugural National Thank a Nurse Day initiative at Jackson Health System. The initiative encourages communities across the U.S. to carve out a moment of genuine appreciation for the people who care for patients through their most vulnerable moments.

For Moxie and its partners, centering the first celebration in Miami was intentional: it’s one of the nation’s most dynamic healthcare hubs and home to nurses who serve one of the most diverse patient populations in the country.

“At Lovepop, we believe in celebrating those who make the world brighter, and few do that more than nurses. We’re proud to partner with Moxie Scrubs to honor the care and compassion of nurses in our communities. We hope these words remind them just how appreciated they are,” said Wombi Rose, Co-Founder & CEO of Lovepop.

A Day Designed for Connection, Not Ceremony

Rather than another ceremonial holiday, Moxie Scrubs Founder & CEO Alicia Tulsee says the new day is about creating space for something more intimate and human.

“National Nurses Day on May 6th honors Florence Nightingale’s legacy and the nurses who carry that work forward, but National Thank A Nurse Day is something more personal: It’s a moment for us to truly take notice and really look a nurse in the eye and say, ‘Thank you. I see you. I appreciate you.’ It’s not just a celebration, it’s a moment of real human connection. It’s a reminder to all of us to honor the human behind the scrubs,” said Alicia Tulsee, founder and CEO of Moxie Scrubs.

Timed just before the holiday season, when many families gather, and nurses continue working without a break, the day is meant to prompt reflection and gratitude. The partners behind the initiative say the hope is that National Thank a Nurse Day becomes an annual tradition adopted by hospitals, schools, businesses, and local governments across the country.

Small Gestures, Big Impact

As part of the inaugural celebration, Lovepop and CeraVe donated thousands of premium cards and skincare products, encouraging patients and community members to write personal messages of gratitude. Those handwritten notes are being delivered directly to nurses, creating what organizers describe as “a moment of pure magic”, a reminder that even small gestures can shift how nurses feel valued.

The effort aligns with Moxie Scrubs’ broader mission to elevate the nursing profession and champion the emotional, physical, and cultural well-being of nurses nationwide.

Moxie and its partners are encouraging anyone, from healthcare systems to individual community members, to take part in the movement.
